Biography
Claire Corral is a Partner at Baranda & Associates, a member of the Rouse Network. She is also the Philippines Head of Trade Marks & Brands.
Claire is a qualified lawyer and intellectual property professional in the firm’s Trade Mark Group in the Philippines. Before joining the firm, she spent seven years as a Trade Mark Examiner at the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, where she developed extensive experience in trade mark prosecution and practice. She also supports the Dispute Resolution and Patents Group as one of the firm’s key trade mark specialists.
With over 20 years of experience in intellectual property, Claire leads the Trade Marks and Brands team in managing trade mark portfolios across a wide range of industries. Her work includes conducting gap analyses, advising on trade mark maintenance, assessing trade mark availability, and identifying risks associated with use and registration.
Claire has also played a leading role in pioneering the protection of geographical indications in the Philippines. She secured the first geographical indication from a foreign entity in the wines and spirits sector to be registered in the Philippines since the GI registration system began in 2023.
Under Claire’s leadership, the firm has achieved a 90% success rate in inter partes cases filed with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, securing favourable decisions for clients. An experienced negotiator, she also helps clients achieve favourable settlements through strategic negotiations with adverse parties.
In addition, Claire advises on IPR recordals and border enforcement matters with the Bureau of Customs, including delivering brand identification workshops for enforcement agencies.
