Biography
Katrin is a member of our Mechanics team and specializes in patent matters within the full range of general mechanical and chemical engineering. Katrin works with all kinds of patent issues such as pre-patenting investigations, patent drafting and prosecution, freedom-to-operate analysis, and infringement and validity evaluations.
Katrin´s practice involves Biomechanics, biotechnology, medical technology, and mechanics and she specializes in protein chemistry and biochemistry.
She has a B.A. in chemistry from Austin College, Texas USA, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Göteborg University. Before she joined Valea she worked with product development and with biotechnology applications in the area of microbiology at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research in Kuwait and as Certified Examiner in food chemistry and microbiology. Katrin has extensive experience in patent portfolio management, especially for small and medium-sized companies, and often works in close collaboration with inventors and provides advice on research and patent strategic issues. Katrin is also an experienced lecturer in the field of patents. She joined Valea in March 2004.
During 2023/2024 she successfully completed the CEIPI course on Patent Litigation in Europe and received a European Patent Litigation Certificate giving her the right to represent clients in the Unified Patent Court.
