While we represent clients from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, we focus on serving technology companies seeking long-term, value-added relationships with us.

With over 100 patent agents, attorneys, and technologists representing all major technical disciplines we write, prosecute and resolve patent disputes either by way of litigation or arbitration.

We enjoy the detail of patenting an invention as much as inventors and offer a multidimensional perspective by incorporating our learnings from patent litigation and licensing into patent prosecution (e.g. claims structure, amendments strategy etc.) as well as experience gained in-house.

Our wide geographic reach enables us to develop a unique ‘compound’ patent drafting style that meets the very different demands of various patent offices and serves to enhance this transnational prosecution approach.  Across our offices, we prosecute patents to ensure the same understanding of our clients’ patents, consistency in claims amendments, licenses and other technology export requirements, and compliance issues (e.g. FDA, Telecom, climate change) and manage multi-jurisdictional contentious patent matters in a fully informed manner. As several team members have previously worked in R&D, industry and Patent Offices we are known for our ability to explain complex technical issues to examiners and judges.

Our Global Patent Group is led by Fabrice Mattei a highly experienced patent attorneys who have not only worked for some of the leading technology companies but also alongside many of the largest patent firms and for some of the world’s largest and most instantly recognisable corporates, on both patent prosecution and litigation matters.

Geographical & Technologies Hubs

Every office has its dedicated local team of patent specialists handling prosecution work and each one is fully integrated into our global patent group. The efficiencies created through our offices’ collaboration are passed directly to our clients through our dedicated hubs structures.

Geographical Hubs

Purpose

Our Geographical Hub handles patent and design regional filing programmes through its dedicated and multi-jurisdictions in-house team experienced in navigating the regional patent prosecution rules complexity to deliver competitive and quality patent prosecution services.

Coverage

Our geographical hub covers the following regions:

  • Asia
  • Middle-East & Africa
  • Europe & Russia

Client's Profile

Clients who are primarily interested in regional filing programmes with specific prosecution goals in mind (e.g. patent pendency rate reduction, streamline process, consolidated invoices etc.)

Technologies Hubs

Purpose

The Technologies Hub provides primarily technologies support to clients in FTOs, drafting and prosecuting complex patents. It is positioned with access to the firm’s in-house best capabilities in 7 key technology areas to deliver competitive and quality services. The increasing number of disruptive innovations is the result of a creative combination of sciences and technologies, rarely fitting neatly into one clearly defined discipline. Our Technologies Hub addresses this challenged and allows our team to collaborate across multiple technical disciplines.

Coverage

We cover the following technological fields:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Chemical, Life Sciences and Pharma
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Energy & Green Technologies
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Material Science
  • Software & Artificial Intelligence

This also includes the latest technologies, including cloud computing, environmental sound technologies, wearables and nanotechnologies.

Client's Profile

Clients who need support in making critical technical decisions (e.g. patent drafting, claims’ analysis, FTOs etc) with confidence and full understanding of the value of their technologies.

Climate Change & Intellectual Property

Climate Change is no longer a buzz word, it's a worldwide and daily reality we cannot ignore. Regulations on global warming are quickly reshaping the business and IP landscape. As one of the first firms to practice IP with Climate Change, Rouse is at the forefront of this emerging area. Our multi-disciplinary team is composed of Climate Change attorneys, patent agents and engineers in energy and waste management.

We help our clients navigate the evolving world of Climate Change legislation and unlock opportunities in an increasingly carbon-constrained economy by focusing on six major aspects of Climate Change. For more information, please contact the Climate Change Group.

Carbon Innovation

We represent clients in Climate Change lawsuits involving tort, technologies, human rights, negligence and public trust claims.

Carbon Litigation

We assist our clients with Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions calculation, reporting and offsetting through voluntary and mandatory Emission Trading Systems. We evaluate the compliance of our clients’ green credentials and marketing claims with Climate Change legislation.

Finance

We represent organisations in protecting and enforcing their bio-resources against biopiracy as well as protect and defend geographical indications against misuse. We closely cooperate with international organizations on Climate Change & IP and contribute to shape policy in these areas.

Learning and development is a lifelong pursuit. In order to provide the most valuable and current advice to our clients we have created a Patent Academy, an internal learning platform dedicated to training our Technology & Patents team members. The Academy covers design and patent drafting techniques as well as prosecution strategies. Our most experienced colleagues conduct training sessions throughout the year and distil key insights into practical notes to share with our clients. Covering jurisdictions including China, South-east Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Japan, and the United States, the Academy offers a diverse array of patent systems and models. This variety enables our team members to develop diverse perspectives and enhance their professional capabilities.
