On Wednesday 19 August 2020, Rouse Thailand has become the first firm to file a complaint through the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court (“CIPIT Court”).

The CIPIT Court is also the first of the specialised Courts to commence use of the e-filing system. Our filing on 19 August was the historical test case for the CIPIT Court. The test event received great interest and was well attended by Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justice and judicial officers from the CIPIT Court and other courts and the system developer Krungthai Bank PCL. The filing was a success. Our case was electronically filed and accepted by the CIPIT Court. The event was publicised on the CIPIT Court’s website at https://ipitc.coj.go.th/th/content/category/detail/id/10/cid/21/iid/208913.

At the present, the system can accommodate filing of civil complaints and initial supporting documents for IP cases. It is expected that the system will be open to accept subsequent documentations for in one month’s time. Filing of criminal IP-related cases via the system may be possible in the future as well.
